Officers warned residents to stay indoors in Valley Village Saturday night as they searched for a man with a gun, according to the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood division.
The LAPD set up a perimeter in the area of Laurel Canyon and Burbank Boulevard around 11 p.m.
Police did not say whether the man was inside or outside of a home in the area.
Twitter users told NBC4 that a helicopter was circling the area.
A K-9 took the man down around 11:18 p.m.
He was loaded onto a stretcher and placed in an ambulance.
