NorCal Dentist Gives Free Breast Exam With Cleaning

A dentist in San Jose, Calif., was arrested for what he says was a routine medical breast exam.

The San Jose Police Department arrested Dr. Benva Lazar after a woman said Lazar fondled her breasts while she was receiving a dental examination at his office at 5710 Cahalan Ave. No. 9.

The woman told police that Lazar said he was concerned about the woman's health and the rise in cancer diagnoses.

He then carried out what he said was a medical breast examination on the woman and emphasized the importance of self-examinations, police said.

On Thursday, Lazar was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for a felony arrest warrant for "sexual battery by fraudulent representation that the touching served a professional purpose," police said.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Lazar may have performed breast examinations on other patients.
