A new shot was fired Thursday in the Battle of the Billboards in LA.

LA City Attorney Carmen Trutanich filed a civil lawsuit Thursday, against one of the largest billboard companies in the area.

In the suit filed against Van Wagner Communication, a national company, Trutanich accuses the firm and 19 property owners of hanging supergraphics on the walls of their buildings in ways that violate of city laws, as reported by the Daily News.

Trutanich is seeking fines of $5,000 per day for each location.

Trutanich said the billboards are usually made of vinyl, that stretch across an entire building and often cover windows, reports the Daily News, creating a hazard for tenants.

Last year Trutanich jailed the owner of one sign company and had him held on $1 million bail.
