Man Killed on 101 Freeway in Downtown

The road was closed early Monday morning for a crash investigation

A man was struck and killed in a traffic lane of the  northbound 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles early Monday morning, the  California Highway Patrol said.

A woman called the CHP at 4:24 a.m. to say the pedestrian had run in  lanes, according to a CHP statement. He was described as a man about 50 years  old.

All northbound lanes of the Hollywood Freeway were shut down at Alameda Street, and LA police were  called to assist in directing traffic on city streets around the closure, the  CHP said. The road reopened at about 6 a.m.
