Wildflower Festival Time

SPRINGTIME SHOW: While the wildflower shows in the Southern California deserts are rightfully famous, they're not entirely predictable. Much depends on rainfall, and other weather-based factors, of course. But come March, usually, flower fans can expect to see buds popping up hither and yon. And sometimes, in the center of hither and yon, a full-on festival blooms. And that's exactly what's happening on Saturday, March 5 at the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center.

WILDFLOWER FESTIVAL: "Guided hikes" among the buds are part of the big day, as are wine tasting and kidly to-dos. It's a free fest -- drink and eats will be additional -- and there's parking and shuttling info, so read all if you plan on attending. Best of all, it is March in the desert. Not too hot, not too cold, and full of fantastic color, or starting to get full, anyway.
