    Picking a ripe blackberry from a bush?

    You won't need a ton of implements or tools or extra stuff to complete the process.

    Basically your fingers will do, and perhaps a bucket for the berries, but if you'd like to eat your berries right there, while standing in the sunshine, that is a time-honored tradition, too.

    Picking a berry-themed ice cream flavor from Salt & Straw

    A bucket isn't required, nor finding your way to a field, but you will need to locate your local scoop shop. Good thing there are quite a few of those now, for while Salt & Straw began in Portland in 2011, there are a number of Southern California spots today.

    So make your way to Larchmont Village, Abbot Kinney Boulevard, Downtown Disney District in Anaheim, or another Salt & Straw for some berry-themed boutique ice creams.
