This year AltaMed will host its 1st Annual Women In Action Catrinas Unidas event set on Saturday, October 22, 2016, 2-6 p.m., at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes. The event will recognize inspirational women who have overcome great obstacles with strength and perseverance, and who have greatly impacted the communities we live in.
Women in Action is a volunteer committee of women who support AltaMed’s Breast Cancer programs and services. One in eight women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. But there is a 98 percent survival rate with early detection and 27 percent survival rate in advanced stages.
All proceeds from the event will benefit thousands of uninsured or low-income patients. AltaMed is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which has delivered health care to the underserved communities of Southern California for more than 45 years.
