Cornfield Talk: Meeting Tonight for Specific Plan

In this lean development times, it's nice to see there is still talk of parks and green space. One of two meetings to discuss the Cornfields Arroyo Seco Specific Plan--which would ultimately transform a 650-acre stretch of mostly industrial land between the Chinatown and Heritage Square Metro rail station--will be held tonight at the Ann Street Elementary School on East Bloom St. according to City Councilman Ed Reyes' blog (the other meeting is on Saturday). Via an email from Reyes' office, we're reminded this plan "is significant because it is one of only two of the 239 LEED pilot projects in the nation guiding a city plan. The other LEED pilot projects are mostly new developments with a single land owner. Ours here in Los Angeles involves an existing neighborhood involving multiple land owners where the City is taking the lead in guiding what will happen over the long term."
