From September 10-12, L.A. Greek Fest returns to Saint Sophia Cathedral, featuring heaps of food, Greek dancing and celebrity guest hosts Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson.
“Passport to a Grecian Holiday” is the theme for this year’s L.A. Greek Fest, with food booths offering the kinds of specialties you’d find in places like Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes and Saloniki—in other words, Greek-style gyro burgers; Greek panini sandwiches with ham, Feta and olive oli, served at the TUNICS Sports Bar; and Athenian scampi, served at the Taverna.
You’ll also find Greek classics like Keftethes, “perfectly seasoned” Greek meatballs; Saganaki, flaming cheese sautéed in Brandy, Moussaka, eggplant layered with ground beef and cream sauce; and baklava, plus Greek wine and beer and plenty of Ouzo.
It costs $3 to attend L.A. Greek Fest on Friday, September 10, from 5 P.M. to 11 P.M. The festival runs September 11 from 1 P.M. to 11 P.M. and September 12 from 12 P.M. to 10 P.M. Admission is $5 on the final two days, and all food costs extra. [The Feast]
