NBC4 Southern California is once again the Media Sponsor for AbilityFirst's Stroll & Roll 5K event to raise awareness and funds for people with disabilities. NBC4's "Today in LA" Anchor Whit Johnson and Meteorologist Shanna Mendiola hosted the event on on the Universal Studios Backlot on April 2, 2017.
More than 2,000 participated and enjoy meet and greets with Dora the Explorer and other characters. There was an expo with resources, food trucks, games and other vendors.
AbilityFirst has named actress Lauren Potter, best known for her role as the spunky cheerleader ‘Becky Jackson’ on the TV show, “Glee” as the 2017 Celebrity Champion. Potter will join longtime honorary chairs, actress Jaclyn Smith of “Charlie’s Angels,” actress and model Lee Meriwether, Miss America 1955, actress Jane Kaczmarek of “Malcolm in the Middle,” along with special guest Heather Langenkamp, actress in “A Nightmare On Elm Street.
