In recognition of Women’s History Month in March, NBC4 Southern California’s award-winning reporter Kim Baldonado will host the 7th annual Women of the World Awards on Sunday, March 8, 2015, a community event that brings hundreds of Los Angeles-area philanthropists to raise awareness of issues affecting women and girls across the globe. The event is organized by the non-profit organizations 50/50 Leadership and the United Nations Association’s Pasadena Chapter.
Baldonado will help honor three locally-based women whose activism help improve the lives of women and girls abroad. The honorees include child advocate/African AIDS activist Tersit Asrat; author/educator Anne Windes; and Afghani girls mentor Betsy Emerick. The honorees generate awareness, assistance and benevolent contributions to dozens of charities benefitting women and girls.
“Our event brings a diverse group of people who want to be inspired by the good work being done by the honorees,” says 50/50 Leadership founder and chair Pauline Field. “
