New York will always win the "which city is more night-oriented" battle with LA (we think it is because so many people have early call times here), but our town has a vibrant, after-dark character we should all crow about every chance we get. Neon is a major part of that character's look, and the Museum of Neon Art bows to the glow with a pair of its popular cruises by bus on Saturday, December 20th and Sunday, December 21.
Mr. Eric Lynxwiler is at the mic on the red double-decker (he authored one of our favorite LA-focused books, "Wilshire Boulevard: Grand Concourse of Los Angeles"), and the attendees? They're people who like neon, that gorgeously garish form of lighting that had its heyday back in the '40s, as well as those who love our city (very often those two factions are just one big happy, neon/LA-loving group).
The route will include many notable stops: Spinning by Chinatown is a possibility, of course, but there are numerous signs still flickering around the city (think Canter's and Amoeba, to name a few). Also, holiday lights will not go unnoticed. Will you spy a festive new display you've never seen before? City staples and a few secrets await.
