Someone stole a high-powered rifle and ammunition from the California Highway Patrol in Martinez, Calif.
The CHP says someone cut a hole in a fence overnight and broke into a secure area at the office on Blum Road near Interstate 680 and Highway 4.
Officers say they believe at least two people then broke into a patrol car stole a tactical, one-shot rifle. They ripped the gun out of locking device and also stole 120 bullets. Another patrol car was also broken into, CHP officer Tom Macguire said.
Macguire referred to the rife as a Colt Sporter Match H-Bar.
Officers say the gun is powerful enough to penetrate bulletproof vests.
