The owner of the Amapola Super Deli and Market in Downey is used to people lining up around the block, starting early in the morning, to buy not just tamales but the dough to make tamales at home.
Tamales are traditionally served at posadas -- gatherings to reflect upon Mary and Joseph's search for shelter -- and other Christmas parties.
