Anyone who has been in Monsieur Marcel at the Original Farmers Market at Third & Fairfax would not describe it as large.
It's a sliver of the size of a grocery store. And yet it has enough, more than enough, and about 18 different happy places. The mustard section. The olive bins. The shelf with the nougat/almond candies. Oh, and that remarkable (and huge) cheese case.
We've thought how we'd like to walk through with a fork, and now we kind of can, in a way. Come Tuesday, March 2nd, Monsieur Marcel is going to hold a Foodie Special. It's a class in which gourmands will get to try the shop's "newest and favorite products." Zut!
It's a $30 class, but get this: You'll snag a $15 coupon to use in the store that same day (there isn't a lot of fine print, but read it). So if you sample a peppercorn sauce you want to drink straight from the bottle, you can buy it after class, for a song.
There are three other swell Tuesday night wine-and-bites classes at the Francophile hub; check 'em all out here, and get info on advance signing-up.
