2 Residents Injured After Suspected DUI Driver Crashes Car Into Fontana Home

A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Saturday after an SUV crashed into a Fontana home, jolting nine residents out of bed and sending two to the hospital.

The crash was reported at around 3:20 a.m. after a Chevrolet Tahoe plowed into a residence in the 7700 block of Alder Avenue, according to Fontana police.

"I thought it was like an earthquake or something," said Ana Abarca, who lives in the home.

Firefighters rescued a resident who was partially trapped underneath the vehicle, Cpl. Rich Hunt said.

Two victims, both residents, were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver has not been identified.

The crash severed a gas line and authorities were called to the scene to check on the structural integrity of the home.
