Visiting “Palestine, New Mexico”

A world premiere from an acclaimed performance group.

Culture Clash is one of the most celebrated performance groups in Los Angeles, and for good reason. For a quarter century the trio has taken on cultural assumptions and racism and the frictions found in any city of any size, and found fans galore in doing so.

Now they're staging "Palestine, New Mexico" at the Mark Taper Forum; previews begin on Thursday, December 3rd. The play follows an army captain on a mission of discovery in the Land of Enchantment. Discovery, of course, can go in many directions, and as the captain investigates a death, she'll investigate larger questions, too.

If you saw the Culture Clash show at Royce Hall a few months back, and you're moved by political drama that has a large dose of humanity and humor, make for the Mark Taper. The play's on through January 24, 2010.

And if you are new to Culture Clash, clear some time and take in some clips. Oh so funny and provocative in all the right and important ways.
