What You're Doing Tonight: April 21st

JEFF BECK: Any guitarist who has picked up an instrument in the last 30 years without pausing to consider, listen to, and bow before the great Jeff Beck probably doesn't exist. Widely seen in musician circles as a master, and nearly mythic, the British guitarist played with The Yardbirds, as well as heading up his own projects and solo efforts. His El Rey shows on Tuesday, April 21 and Wednesday, April 22 are listed as sold out -- here's hoping you got those tickets way in advance -- but we had to make mention. Every super-obsessive guitar enthusiast we know is a complete Beckian, and it is big news to have him swing through town. Plus, the man is still touring, still rocking, and so anyone who says that the golden era of fusion-y, forward-thinking playing has wrapped should get to a Jeff Beck show pronto.

ALSO ON TUESDAY, APRIL 21: Speaking of legends that are well and wisely worshiped: Throbbing Gristle, those marvelous early adopters of all things fierce and industrial, are in Hollywood; and the Markus Klinko + Indrani photography show opens at the Pacific Design Center.
