What You're Doing Tonight: Dec. 27

KWANZAA CELEBRATION CONCERT: The acclaimed modern-dance troupe Lula Washington Dance Company fetes the holiday with a moving tribute through moving, music, words, and joyful expression. Saturday, December 27, 8PM. $30-$35. The Harriet & Charles Luckman Fine Arts Complex, California State University, Los Angeles, 5151 State University Drive, Los Angeles. 323-343-6600

BASSNECTAR: Born in San Francisco and now known far and wide for bringing vibe-y electronica flows, Bassnectar describes itself as a "freeform project" with music at its heart. Rather than straight-up, traditional electronica, expect cameos by various genres aplenty, making for ethereal sounds and a mysterious mood. Saturday, December 27, 9PM. $15 advance, $19 door. El Rey, 5515 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles. 323-936-6400

TWO CLASSIC BANDS: They're not playing together -- although that might be a memorable show -- but we'd be keen to see both of these acts. The metal-tastic Ratt rules HOB Anaheim on Saturday, December 27 (we bet you know "Round and Round" by heart), while funky rock org War drives a "Low Rider" by The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, also on Saturday, December 27. (Bonus: The Donnas are rocking with Ratt -- sweet.)
