A 40-acre grass fire was burning Friday afternoon in the El Sereno area, and some homes were threatened.
The blaze was reported about 11:30 a.m. on Soto Hill in the 2800 block of North Eastern Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
"This is a terrain-driven fire (with) no heavy winds, that moved into heavy brush," according to an LAFD update issued about 2 p.m.
"Firefighters continue to work their way up the terrain into heavy brush and defend the threatened homes."
By 3:15 p.m., the fire had grown to 40 acres and was fully surrounded by fire crews.
No injuries have been reported.
