7-Minute Pursuit in Orange County Ends in Car Crash, 4 Arrests

Four people were arrested by Anaheim police Saturday after a seven-minute pursuit from the resort area to the Garden Grove border, when the suspect vehicle crashed into four other vehicles, authorities said.

It started at 3:31 p.m. near Harbor Boulevard and Ball Road, when an officer attempted to stop a vehicle without license plates but its driver took off, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt.

The pursuit went onto the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway to the westbound Garden Grove (22) Freeway and off at Euclid Street where the suspect vehicle attempted to drive in between vehicles at Orangewood Avenue and crashed into four vehicles at 3:31 p.m., Wyatt said.

The driver bailed out of the vehicle and was taken into custody, he said. Two other men and a woman who were passengers were also arrested.

The driver was arrested for suspicion of the pursuit and carrying a loaded firearm and possession of stolen property while the others were arrested for suspicion of offenses ranging from assault with a deadly weapon and probation violations.

The suspects were identified by Wyatt as driver Eric Sanchez Vega, 29 and Armando Avalos, 23, both of Anaheim, and Alejandra Naranjo, 30, of Fontana and Rocio Rivera, 44, a transient.

The investigation was ongoing, Wyatt said.
