A handcuffed man who broke free from an LA County sheriff's patrol car Friday night and prompted street closures as authorities searched for him was captured after an hours-long search, officials said.
The search near a car dealership began before 9 p.m. near the 110 Freeway and Washington Boulevard, officials said.
Aerial video showed a slew of patrol cars along downtown surface streets.
Los Angeles police said the man was a suspected felon who may have used his head to break out of the window of the patrol car.
Deputies confirmed the man was captured and taken into custody before midnight.
