An explosion and fire caused major damage Monday to a house in Claremont, but no injuries were reported.
The blast was reported about 2:55 p.m. at a one-story, single-family home in the 200 block of West 12th Street, near Harvard Avenue, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.
Reports from the scene showed firefighters pouring water on the heavily damaged structure, which was engulfed in smoke and flames when crews arrived.
Homes a block away from the property where the fire originated were damaged, according to the fire department, though it was unclear to what extent.
