Firefighters battled a fire in a row of commercial buildings Thursday morning in downtown Los Angeles' Fashion District.
Crews responded about 4:20 a.m. to the 1200 block of Wall Street, near Pico Boulevard, and located flames and heavy smoke coming from at least one side of the buildings, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
At about 4:45 a.m., firefighters declared the incident a greater alarm structure fire and transitioned to a defensive operation, battling the blaze from the exterior, and requested additional task forces, Stewart said.
No injuries were reported in the first 40 minutes of the battle. A cause was not immediately determined.
