Five Swimmers Rescued in Playa del Rey

Four swimmers were hospitalized Thursday after they were pulled from the ocean by lifeguards in Playa del Rey.

Two of the were in critical condition. One was in serious condition.

A 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were taken to a hospital and two other women were expected to be taken to the hospital.

One man is in good condition and declined to be taken to a hospital.

The rescue took place in the 11200 block of South Vista del Mar.

All four suffered what Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department described as water-related injuries.
