Lane Closure Planned on State Route 60, Between Beaumont and Moreno Valley

Officials said the work will get underway about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and continue until 3 p.m., with additional closures scheduled during the same hours Thursday and Friday.

The westbound Moreno Valley (60) Freeway will be partially shut down Wednesday for repairs in the Badlands west of Beaumont, and transportation officials advised motorists to be prepared for delays or consider taking an alternate route.

According to Caltrans, a number of surface repairs are needed on the shoulder of the westbound 60, as well as in the No. 2 lane, requiring a closure of that lane, leaving only the fast lane available between Jack Rabbit Trail and Gilman Springs Road.

The eastbound 60 will not be impacted.

Officials said the work will get underway about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and continue until 3 p.m., with additional closures scheduled during the same hours Thursday and Friday.

The portion of the 60 that courses through the Badlands is roughly four miles long, and there are no frontage roads in the sparsely populated space.

Caltrans recommended that motorists who do not want to contend with delays along the corridor during the roadwork consider using westbound Interstate 10 instead.
