Four Masked Men Armed With Shotgun Beat Liquor Store Worker

The worker first refused to open the office door before the men broke it down.

Police were searching for four masked men Wednesday after they were caught on camera beating a liquor store worker with a shotgun in San Bernardino County.

The masked men got away with $4,000 in cash and liquor from MJ's Market in the 2700 block of Macy Street in Muscoy, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

The victim, father to two teen boys, suffered head injuries, and was partially blinded in one eye following the attack, he said.

Another clerk, Chris, who was working when the robbers came in said he didn't want to be identified because he was still afraid for his life.

"When they walked in, I see them with a gun and a bag, and I got scared," he said. "So I back up and I let them come in and I ran out."

Chris was working Monday night around 10 p.m. when four masked men stormed in with a shotgun around closing time.

He hid behind a propane tank with his dad who had come to pick him up after work, and called 911.

"When I went out, my dad told me that they told him to get out of the way or they're going to kill him," Chris said.

The beating victim, Mark, saw the robbers looting the store and grabbed the cash from the register before locking himself in a back office.

A man wearing a white plaid hooded sweatshirt can be seen on the surveillance video pointing the shotgun at Mark before he takes off for the office.

The masked men began threatening him to open the door, and when he refuses, they kick the door down.

"[They said] 'give me money, give me money,'" Mark said. "I told them, 'I'm sorry I don't have any money and the store only has this money.'"

He was punched and struck with a shotgun in the face. The whole robbery and beating lasted about four minutes.

Chris, who wasn't injured in the robbery, was furious that the robbers still beat his co-worker after they had the cash.

"Those guys don't belong on the streets — they belong in jail," Chris said.

Mark, a father of two, was just grateful to have survived.

The masked men were last seen in a dark colored older model Ford Explorer SUV, according to authorities.

Anyone with information on the robbery or suspects was encouraged to call Deputy Sanchez at (909) 387-3645.
