Driver Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting

A Culver City police officer fatally shot a man in Venice. Authorities say officer pulled over a car near Lincoln Boulevard and California Avenue based on a report of a man with a gun. When the car stopped, a passenger got out, and that's when the officer-involved shooting occurred. (KTLA)

LA County Asst. Fire Chief Says He Killed Neighbor's Dog in Self-Defense

A high-ranking Los Angeles County firefighter is under investigation for allegedly maiming a neighbor's dog in Riverside County. The firefighter says the 6-month-old shepherd mix bit him and he was just defending himself. But a witness says there was bad blood between the firefighter and the owners of the dog, and that the attack on the puppy was un-provoked. A veterinarian tried to save the dog, but its skull was crushed from repeated blows to the head with a rock. (NBCLosAngeles)

Same-Sex Marriage Activists to Converge on Silver Lake

Gays and lesbians are furious over voters up-ending same-sex marriages in Tuesday's election. A big demonstration in Long Beach ended Friday night with about 15 people arrested. On Saturday evening, gay rights activists are teaming up with members of the A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition for a demonstration and rally in Silver Lake. So if you're driving in the area, you'll want to steer clear of Sunset and Santa Monica boulevards. (NBCLosAngeles)

LAX Tops Nation In Stolen, Missing Luggage Items

Two baggage handlers at LAX have been arrested on suspicion of swiping valuables out of luggage. The pair were arrested Oct. 30 on the tarmac. And when police searched their homes, they found 272 stolen items and about $10,000 in cash, all in varying currencies from around the world. According to report by CBS2, LAX leads the nation in reported thefts from baggage. (CBS2)

Arcadia Police Shoot Kill 140-Pound Mountain Lion

There's one less cougar prowling the foothills. Arcadia police unloaded on a big cat that killed a dog and is suspected of preying on other pets in the area. Police say the roughly 140-pound mountain lion lunged at the officer just before he shot it dead in the 22-hundred block of Canyon Road. (NBCLosAngeles)

NWS Predict 20 Percent Chance of Light Rain Overnight

Weatherwise, it's cloudless and sunny early. That means it's going to be hot in the LA basin, with highs ranging from the 70s at the beaches to the mid 80s in the valleys. But that doesn't mean rain is out of the picture. A low-pressure system sometimes called an inside slider has prompted the National Weather Service to predict a 20 percent chance of light rain or showers overnight.
