The U.S. team includes Bruins KK Clark, Rachel Fattal, of Seal Beach, Sami Hill, of Santa Barbara, Courtney Mathewson, of Orange, Maddie Musselman, of Newport Beach. They'll join USC’s Kami Craig, of Santa Barbara, and Kaleigh Gilchrist, of Newport Beach, in defense of the gold medal.

3. U.S Men's Basketball Competes in the Semis

The U.S. takes on Spain in a basketball rematch of the 2012 London Olympics gold medal game. Former Los Angeles Laker Pau gasol hopes to do what he couldn't back when Kobe Bryant was still playing. 4. After a Do-Over, US Women Make 4x100 Final

In what is widely believed to be an unprecedented Olympic relay do-over, the U.S. women’s 4x100m team — with LA’s Allyson Felix pulling the second leg — ran Thursday morning in a tangled mess, then got the chance in the evening to run again, in a time trial, to try to qualify for the relay final Friday at Olympic Stadium. Felix and company put up the fastest qualifying time. They’ll try to match that feat when all eight lanes are occupied.
