Attacker Sought in Car-to-Car Shooting That Led to Wendy's Restaurant Crash

Authorities are searching for the gunman who opened fire on a driver before the 18-year-old victim crashed into a Wendy's restaurant in Panorama City.

Alexis Saldana later died at a hospital, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. The crash, which was reported at 10:51 p.m. Friday in the area of Roscoe and Van Nuys boulevards, came after Saldana was shot at a nearby Walmart parking lot, according to Lt. Paul McLaughlin of the LAPD's Mission Division.

The shooter drove away in a black SUV, and Saldana drove a short distance before losing control of his car, which ended up completely inside the restaurant. McLaughlin said no one else was injured in the crash as the dining room was closed at the time.

LAPD Valley Bureau homicide detectives asked anyone with information on the shooting to call them at 818-374-1934, or 877-527-3247.
