Southbound traffic moving into Hollywood was jammed Thursday evening as police activity forced a portion of Hollywood Boulevard to shut down, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Hollywood Boulevard between La Brea and Highland avenues were closed while police responded to a Hooters Restaurant, which has since been evacuated, LAPD’s Officer Christopher No said.
The shutdown began about 4:43 p.m. and ended about 9:20 p.m., No said.
A man was taken into custody for allegedly making threats inside the restaurant.
During the height of rush hour, the southbound lanes of Highland Avenue were stop-and-go as far back at the Hollywood Bowl, aerial footage showed.
