A reckless driving suspect led police on a 40-minute chase through the Compton area Friday evening before he and two passengers were taken into custody.
The chase began around 7 p.m.
The suspect, at the wheel of a PT Cruiser convertible, drove on the wrong side of the road, ran red lights and stop signs and nearly collided with several other vehicles before stopping at the intersection of Compton Boulevard and White Avenue in the unincorporated East Compton area.
Deputies had backed off close pursuit as the motorist, who was also suspected of possibly driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, drive dangerously on freeways and local streets.
