Seal Denies Former Neighbor's Allegations of Sexual Misconduct

Detectives Tuesday were investigating a Malibu woman's allegation that she was the victim of sexual battery by the recording artist Seal more than a year ago.

The allegation was made on Saturday, when deputies responded to a call of a neighbor disturbance in the 28900 block of Verde Mesa Lane, according to sheriff's Deputy Wally Bracks of the Malibu-Lost Hills Station.

"It was determined, however, at the time of the deputies' arrival there was no disturbance at the location between the victim and any of her neighbors," Bracks said. "The victim disclosed to the deputies that she, allegedly, had been the victim of a sexual battery in November of 2016."

The sheriff's department identified the suspect as 54-year-old Malibu resident Samuel Henry Olusegun, whose stage name is Seal.

No additional details about the investigation have been released by authorities and Seal has not been charged with any crime, but according to TMZ, which named the alleged victim, the woman is an actress who claims Seal groped and tried to force a kiss on her when she went to his home to retrieve a borrowed salad spinner.

A representative for the "Kiss from a Rose" singer said Seal "intends to vigorously defend himself against these false allegations."

Seal made headlines when he alluded in a social media post following Oprah Winfrey's speech at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony that she had known of predatory behavior against women by movie producer Harvey Weinstein.
