Calif. Woman Wins $1M Judgment Against Fugitive Lawyer

LAS VEGAS -- A California woman won a more than $1 million judgment against a fugitive Las Vegas lawyer who vanished after he was indicted on federal fraud charges in 2005.

Tonya'n LaBeaux won the default award Tuesday against Lawrence Davidson for forging documents and settling a wrongful death lawsuit without her permission.

Davidson disappeared after he was indicted in 2005 in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas on allegations that he bilked 178 clients out of nearly $1 million. LaBeaux was one of those clients.

Davidson was named with his father, Donald Davidson, in a second federal indictment.

Donald Davidson is now 74. He is serving a two-year federal sentence for offering a bribe to a Las Vegas city councilman in 2002.
