Philanthropist Wallis Annenberg thought the community beach house on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu was missing something. So Annenberg provided $125,000 for gym with a view of the Pacific Ocean.
It beats staring at a digital readout on a treadmill.
The gym would be in the Annenberg Community Beach House's Sand and Sea Room, which is on the second story of the building. The Santa Monica Daily Press reported that Annenberg made the decision to cut the check after visiting the facility last summer.
Annenberg also provided the original $27.5 million to build the beach house at 415 Pacific Coast Highway.
It already has a pool, recreation facilities and guest house. The gym would be open from June 19 to Sept. 6. The equipment would then be transported to a gym at Memorial Park on Olympic Boulevard.
