Police ended a door-to-door search for three masked men who invaded two homes in the affluent city of Orange on Tuesday.
Three robbers tied up a family of three during a home invasion in the Orange County city during a robbery that occurred about 9:30 p.m. Monday, police at the scene said.
At the house next door, robbers also entered, leaving one man with an injury to his hand.
The home invasions took place in the 300 block of Calle Grande (map).
"I'm not sure how they got into the house, I just know they went in and they robbed the family," Orange police Sgt. Phil McMullin said. "When the officers arrived, the second family came out and stated that they were also victims of a robbery."
One victim said a man was armed with a gun and held it up to her head and to other family members' heads. She said the exchange lasted for three hours, and that she and her husband and daughter were tied up with what seemed to be electrical cords.
"Guns, they had guns," she said tearfully. "They put a gun to our heads."

Police evacuated several homes on the street and told other residents to stay indoors as they conducted a search for the gunmen who were thought be in the area, police said.
The search ended before noon after police targeted one home where they thought the men were holed up. No one was in the house.
One woman from the second home said she thought her husband may have been shot or stabbed in the hand during the invasion. McMullin confirmed that a man had been injured in the hand, but he had no details.
Video from the scene showed one man receiving treatment inside of an ambulance, and officers could be seen lining the streets with police tape.
Further information regarding the robbers' identities and details of the incident were not available.
