Gas is Going Back Up…Again

Just when you thought it was safe to drive your SUV, the summer gas season strikes back. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose for the 46th consecutive day, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.023.

The average price is 8.5 cents higher than a week ago and 50 cents above a month ago, but $1.599 less than at this time last year and $1.603 below the record high of $4.626 set last June 21, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average is at its highest point since Oct. 29, when it was $3.06.

The Orange County average price rose today for the 44th time in the past 45 days, increasing six-tenths of a cent to $3.019. That's, 8.6 cents more than a week ago and 50 cents more than a month ago, but $1.576 less than at this time last year and $1.579 less than the record high of $4.598 set last June 19.

The Orange County average is the highest it has been since Oct. 28, when it was $3.064.
