Green Homes: Pablo's Perspective

Can't sell your home?  Why not consider turning it green in order to attract more buyers.  After all, when gas spiked to more than $4 a gallon, many people went out and bought hybrid cars to save money.  If you think about it, why not do the same thing to your home before you sell it.  By doing so, you can market the home with much lower energy costs than the home down the street.  A great incentive in these tough economic times.

We found one such realtor who calls himself an Eco-Friendly Broker.  Now when he shows homes to clients, he not only talks about the school and neighborhood but often the 40% to 50% savings in energy cost.  Green homes have things like solar panels, tank-less water heaters, non-toxic paint and much more.  Think about it for a moment.  There are 4 homes in your neighborhood for sale and yours can be marketed as the one that lowers bills once they move in.  This particular company is in San Diego, but I am sure it won't be long before we see more eco-friendly homes up for sale here in Southern California.  Many builders have been running with the idea in new developments.  But for owners of older homes, the idea of recreating them as a green property both inside and out is also growing in popularity.  A win-win for both the buyer and seller.  We will have more on this story this Friday on the Channel 4 News at 5pm.
