A group of local high school students has jumpstarted a new campaign that identifies healthy food options via logos in Baldwin Park's grocery stores.
According the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, The Healthy Teens on the Move Advocacy Committee have identified eight supermarkets that are located near schools.
They include Mercado del Pueblo, J & J Liquor, Jay's Liquor, Vallarta, Smart & Final and 7-Eleven.
Baldwin Park has one of the highest obesity rates among youth in Los Angeles County, Rabbani said, with 34 percent of the city's population under 19 being overweight. The store also uses the "Healthy Selection" logos.
