Hundreds of students gathered at the crash site in sorrow.

"I'm going to miss his jokes, laughs, always being a good mood all the time, bringing positive vibes to everybody," said the victim's friend, Valeria Torres.

“It's shocking to me right now. I'm still in shock. It could have be my son down there," said the mother of another boy who was riding bicycles with the victim.

The DWP said the truck driver passed a field sobriety test.

"There is no reason to suggest at all whatsoever that the DWP employee was under the influence of alcohol or drugs," said LAPD Lt. John McMahon.
