SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Police said a man was killed after being shot and crashing his car into a tree at the MainPlace mall in Santa Ana.
Police said he was shot by another man near the intersection of North Broadway and Main Place Drive about 12:30 p.m. Friday. He then crashed his Cadillac through a wall of planters before colliding with a tree.
Video from the scene showed the car catching fire and firefighters extinguishing the blaze.
Police told the Orange County Register they do not know what direction he was traveling or why he was stopped.
"I pulled him out. He was dead. I checked for a pulse -- nothing," witness Neil Jessen told the newspaper.
