Longtime Employee Found Dead Inside Laundromat in South LA

A longtime laundromat employee was found dead inside the business early Saturday morning after an attempted robbery in South Los Angeles, police said.

The body was discovered inside the Coin Wash in the 7300 block of Figueroa Street after police received a call around 12:23 p.m. about a possible kidnapping, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man, only identified as a man in his 50s, was found in the laundromat's living quarters by another employee two hours after closing time, police said. The victim had worked at the business for more than 20 years but did not live at the laundromat.

Police were investigating the incident as a robbery but did not provide details on how the man died. It was unclear if any money or property was stolen.

No suspect description was immediately available.
