The rockets' red glare won't be bursting in the air over Marina del Rey this Fourth of July.
The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors announced on its website that the annual Marina fireworks show has been scrubbed this year "due to budget curtailments."
"We would hope that things would turn around, but this year for sure there are no fireworks," said spokesperson Debbie Talbot.
The annual Fourth of July fireworks show, nearly 2 decades old, has been a major draw in the Marina, attracting thousands of revelers and often snarling traffic and jamming parking lots as people flock to the area.
According to the notice on the county's website, "there will still be plenty to do" in the Marina to celebrate the holiday.
"Hotels, restaurants, retailers and local attractions will be open, parks and beaches are popular, and it will be a great day to get out on the water for fishing, boating and cruising," according to the county notification.
