A highway near Idyllwild remained closed on Monday after an 18-foot boulder was blocking the roadway, transportation officials said.
The California Department of Transportation was working to clear the road off State Route 243 near Pine Cove and Idyllwild where rocks began falling about 10 p.m. Sunday.
SR-243 will remain closed between Pine Cove Road and Franklin Avenue until further notice, officials said.
Motorists were advised to access the Pine Cove community from Interstate 10. Motorists traveling to communities north of Pine Cove must use SR-74 through Hemet to SR 243 as a detour.
