A woman pleaded no contest Tuesday to stabbing her 3-year- old son during a domestic dispute with the boy's father at their home in Cudahy.
Michelle Betancourt, 23, was immediately sentenced to six years in state prison following her plea to one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, with an admission that she personally inflicted great bodily injury on the toddler.
Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies sent to the 3800 block of Walnut Street on a rescue call about 8:40 p.m. last May 18 found the boy, who had been stabbed in the upper body.
Betancourt was arrested the following morning and has remained jailed since then.
