Online VidQueen Prepares for Her Subjects

iJustine set to be showcased at Vidcon, the first conference for online video creators

Online superstar iJustine has come a long way from her humble beginnings. Justine Ezarik is the daughter of a coal miner and a gym teacher who has achieved Internet stardom through her popular vlogs. Her videos have more than 25 million views on YouTube.

Her first vlog in 2007 was about her first iPhone bill, which was slightly heftier than she expected.

“When the iPhone first came out, I sent over 50,000 text messages in one month,” explained Ezarik. “And so AT&T itemized every single text message—and I got a 300 page iPhone bill.”

Today, her iPhone rant has more than 2.5 million views on YouTube.

“This video kind of made me think, wow I can reach so many people by checking out YouTube and posting stuff there," Ezarik said.

She will be shown off at Vidcon, the first-ever gathering for online video creators. The three-day event will bring online celebrities like iJustine, Shane Dawson and Philip DeFranco together for demos, speeches, musical performances, and a celebration of their fast-growing industry.

“I’m so excited because I watch so many videos on YouTube and all of those people that I watch, and people that watch me are all going to be there,” said Ezarik. “It’s going to be great to interact with such an awesome community of people.”
