Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver

Victim had just walked out of a store when he was run down.

A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a pedestrian in Carson Saturday night, said sheriff’s officials.

The accident happened near the intersection of Main and Jay Streets at 9:55 p.m. The injured man died at the scene.

“Five minutes after he left I heard a loud bang,” said Eien Bange, a clerk at La Liquor Store at 22116 Main Street.  “About 15 minutes later some police came … and they took a look at my video and identified him,” said Bange.

The store clerk also said the victim told him he was laid-off last week from a job he had worked for 30 years.

Sheriff’s detectives are questioning witnesses to the accident to try and develop a description of the suspects’ vehicle.
