"It is unreasonable to think that as mayor you can wave a magic wand and make the traffic problems go away. We live in a massive city with a massive population. The public transportation system is poor and taking a city bus across town can take hours. These facts will be difficult to change. The population here in L.A. is going to continue to grow due to people moving here and high birth rates. Even though it is expensive, we need to look at the concept of building more subway lines. In New York City there is a subway station on every corner, but here we only have a few lines to serve a population of 5 million."
