One Killed in High Desert Plane Crash

The plane appeared to be a model that tows gliders from nearby Crystal Airport

One person was killed Thursday afternoon when a small plane crashed in a field in the high desert north of Los Angeles.

The midday crash was reported near Pearblossom Highway and 165th Street in Llano, near the San Bernardino County border. The plane, a single-engine Piper PA25, appeared to be a model that tows gliders from nearby Crystal Airport.

The pilot was the only person on board, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
