Man Arrested After Car Chase Turns Into Foot Chase in Ladera Heights

NBC Universal, Inc.

A man, suspected of assaulting a park official, was arrested after leading a pursuit through the Kenneth Hahn Recreational Area in the Baldwin Hills area.

The call started out as a pursuit in the area of Sophomore Drive and College Boulevard in Ladera Heights.

The driver got onto dirt roads and apparently got stuck. He ended up leaving his car and running away on foot with a backpack.

More than an hour after that wild chase started, police  found the driver trying to blend in on a busy street.

They got a good look at him as he drove head first toward squad cars and swerved through Kenneth Hahn state recreation center.

The driver eventually ditched his car and ran into a neighborhood.

It took about 30 minutes for police to find and arrest him.
